Today is the seventeenth day of the April A to Z Challenge. I will be writing about different frog species based on their latin species names!
Adelphobates quinquevittatus
The A. quinquevittatus is a species of frog found in the Rio Madiera drainage in the Southern Amazon Basin in Brazil & Bolivia. Up until 1990 it was refered to as Ranitomeya ventrimaculata.
It can typically be found in tropical forests & freshwater marshes and will live in the leaf litter on the forest floor.
This frog is gorgeous with its striking orange spotted legs.
The IUCN red list lists the A. quinquevittatus as of least concern as it is found locally abundant.
Here is the original species highlight. Here are all the types of the Adelphobates species.

Oh, he is so GORGEOUS He looks like a humbug! Maybe you don’t have humbugs – they are a type of square sweet, quite large, mint-flavoured, and black and white striped!
I just looked up a humbug and 1) it sounds delcious and 2) it does look like this frog; or this frog looks like it!
Frogs are awesome. Glad I found your frog blog 🙂
Who says stripes and polka dots don’t go together?
