Today is the ninth day of the April A to Z Challenge. I will be writing about different frog species based on their latin species names! See the introduction here.
Litoria infrafrenata – White Lipped Tree Frog
L. infrafrenata is the largest tree frog in the world. It can reach up to 5.5″! Now that is a large frog.

Native to Australia, this tree frog can range in color from bright green to brown. Most L. infrafrenata will have a creamish stomach with a white line around its lip which will continue to its shoulders.

I love their eyes! They are similar to cats and this shape gives them excellent eyesight at night.

The call for the L. infrafrenata sounds like a loud barking sound, they can also make a sound similar to a cats meow when in distress.

I think I’ve actually read about this one before! …Maybe. Either way, I’m learning a lot about frogs!
Awesome! Glad I could help 🙂
This guy has a lot of character. I love the white lip outline and soulful eyes.
They do seem to have a lot of character. I love their eyes as well 🙂 So cute! Thanks for stopping by!
Another pretty frog!!
Isn’t it?!
Oh, he looks like Kermit.
he does!
They are so cute! I love brightly colored animals and plants. Although my roommate would freak out if she saw one. She is not a frog person at all.
Thanks for stopping by! You would love my terrariums! They are gorgeous with many brightly colored frogs and plants!
I take it they only hang out in very big trees? 🙂 That is quite large for a tree frog!
I would assume so! They would be quite obvious on a small tree! I am picturing a twig of a tree with the frog hanging out at the top of the tree and tipping the top over.
5.5 inches. What the heck. That is an enormous frog. I think I would be quite frightened if I bumped into one.
Yeah definitely! 5.5″ is a little smaller than my hand!
Wonderful calls! So cute

I am guessing they are loud seeing of their large size!
