Ranitomeya Fantastica -Fantastic Poison Frog
These frogs are gorgeous! They hail from Peru, often found in the lowland forests. In the forest, the fantastica frogs are very hard to spot in the wild as they scurry throughout the leaf litter.
There are many types of the R. Fantastica including the Caynarachi/Yumbatos Morph, True Nominal Morph, Varadero/Paranapura, Reticulated, White Banded & Lowland. Each morph varies based locality; each more beautiful than the last.
I love the orange head on these frogs.
The R. Fantastica is listed as least concern by the IUCN red list, some common threats are illegally harvested animals for the pet trade and habitat loss due to destruction and degradation.
