Here is a list of all the morphs I have found in my search. A big thank you to everyone who provided photos along with Shawn Harrington (The Frog Whisperer) for his help with this list. A couple of items to note with this list:
- This is not a comprehensive list of all of the morphs of Oophaga pumilio. There are many others that are in the wild that have been omitted as they are not readily available within the United States hobby yet and to reduce the risk of smuggling.
- While on the topic of smuggling, in the late 90’s, Strickley Reptiles was caught smuggling thousands of reptiles and amphibians. These smuggled animals were then released into unknowing hobbyist’s hands. This accounts for some of the inaccuracies within the hobby.
- Each locale shall be kept separate as they each account for a different location. No one knows the actual locale other than the seller, so you must get that information from the seller and trust the seller on what they state the locale is. If you don’t trust the seller on location, then do not buy the frog from them.
